Jade holds a Diploma in Holistic Aromatherapy, Holistic Massage, Anatomy and Physiology, and Reflexology from the Raworth College of Natural Medicine in Dorking, UK, and a Diploma in Aromatherapy from the International Therapist Examining board (ITEC). She has studied with Jan Kusmirek of Fragrant Studies and has completed Part One of the Purdue University Advanced Studies of Essential Oils.

She has been practicing and studying forms of natural healing for more than a decade, and was one of the vanguard of professionals who helped introduce aromatherapy to the United States. Jade Shutes has been an aromatherapy educator and practitioner for over twelve years, opening her first aromatherapy school in the New England area in 1990. Her ongoing study, research and integration of diverse healing modalities such as acupuncture, psychotherapy, herbalism, holistic counseling, quantum physics, philosophy, massage and reflexology culminated in the creation of Dynamic Aromatherapy™. In 2003, the IDA changed its name to: The East-West School for Herbal and Aromatic Studies in order to acknowledge the growing interest in both herbal and aromatic remedies.
Jade has been actively involved with the setting of standards for aromatherapy education in North America, and has authored published articles on this and other aromatherapy issues, in addition to being a popular speaker. Jade is recognized for her leadership roles in the campaign to raise educational standards in the USA, and co-initiated the creation of the National Steering Committee (now ARC) on Educational Standards. Jade is the Past President of the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy.

In fact, when I was taking the exam I stressed myself out so much that I got a cold sore under my tongue which basically kept me from opening my jaw.
