Upon successful completion of Aromatic medicine for the skin, you will be able to:

  • Describe the structure and functions of the skin.
  • List and describe 6 factors which influence the absorption of essential oils into the skin.
  • List 10 potential benefits of applying essential oils to the skin.
  • Describe the link between the skin and the nervous system.
  • List and describe 5 factors which contribute to the safe application of essential oils to the skin.
  • Describe potential dermal adverse reactions to the skin and apply knowledge of safety information when utilizing essential oils.
  • Identify Latin binomials, odor characteristics, core therapeutic actions, core aromatic applications, and safety data on 24 essential oils.
  • Define the term: herbal oil and describe the therapeutic benefits of 3 herbal oils.
  • Make a herbal infusion.
  • List and describe the general therapeutic benefits of vegetable oils and the specific therapeutic properties of 10 vegetable oils.
  • Define the term: Hydrosol; and explain their general therapeutic benefits and applications
  • Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of vegetable oils, hydrosols, and essential oils, by creating a massage cream/gel/lotion/oil after performing consultation.
  • Identify common skin disorders and outline potential aromatic protocols/treatments.
  • Perform a case study.
  • Demonstrate your knowledge of herbal and vegetable oils, hydrosols and essential oils, by creating a skincare cream, toner and cleanser.

Continuing Education Hours:**
Massage therapists: 14 CE Hours

For R.A.: 20 CE hours includes 5 case studies
